Is your waist size considered healthy?

Updated: Jul 6, 2020

Checking waist size is a part of the assessment for personal training plan

If “looking good” is your only kick starter then read on, and you may find yourself a more important reason to get started: A recent study by scientists in Netherlands amongst a population of over 2000 men and women aged 20-59, finds the waist circumference’s signal numbers for both genders. The study shows 37 in (94 cm) for men and 31.5 in (80 cm) for women is the YELLOW ALERT. The Same research suggests that 39.8 in (101 cm) for men and 34.3 in (87 cm) are RED ALERTS. Anyone with a waist size between the yellow and red line has 1.5 times higher risk for cardiovascular problems compared to people below the yellow line. Also, people who passed the red line are 2.5 to 4.5 times more likely to have a heart attack or develop other cardiac diseases compared to healthy people. So, now do yourself a favor today! Grab a tape measure and check your waist size correctly, using this instruction: Wrap the tape measure around your waist and right at your belly button level. Ensure that the tape measure is entirely straight.

Then: - If your waist size is below the yellow line, stick to your “looking good” fitness goal. - If your waist size is between yellow and red line, still try to look good, but remember that your health is at risk too. In other words, if you couldn’t get to your ideal body after a short time since you started, don’t quit the gym as you know that you have a way more important reason to continue exercising than looking sexy! - If your waist size has passed the red line already, think about your loved ones and do them a favor! Bring your waist size under the red line as your initial fitness goal and as quickly as possible. Start exercising correctly and based on a plan today! Sign up for a free assessment here and give yourself the best gift. A healthy and great looking body for the rest of your life!
